Letters

To my current 5k PR:

My first timed 5k race was in April 2008 and I finished in 47:34 and over the course of the years my times have gone up, and down.  I worked really hard to break my previous PR before you {33:37 from March 2010} and I’ve been diligently doing speed work for weeks and I plan to work really hard tomorrow to beat you!  Wish me luck :)

Sincerely,
This dedicated runner

To my tight calves, hamstrings, and quads:

What’s the deal?  I’ve been stretching regularly and spending quality time with the Foam Roller and The Stick.  Cut me some slack.  I need fresh legs for tomorrow!

Sincerely,
The girl hoping for a great race day

To my left shin,

Seriously?!?  One day you are fine; the next you’re achy.  You make me fear the worst and yet give me hope that all is well when your tenderness, pain, achiness and weird twinges come and go.  Can you figure it out already?

Sincerely,
The rest of my cooperating body!

To the several rejection emails I’ve received lately,

You suck.  I know the job market is awful and that the unemployment rate in my area is above the national average.  But just once I’d rather have good news instead of bad.  Is that really too much to ask?!?  I guess I already know the answer …

Sincerely,
This girl with the $30k+ student loans and the seemingly worthless college degree who needs a new job

To running,

Thank you for being my escape and for helping me keep my sanity.  You never take more than I can give and you are always there for me.  I hope we can spend the rest of my life together!

Sincerely,
The girl with big running dreams

To my husband,

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.  Thank you for being my best friend, the best running partner ever, and for putting up with me when I’m in a good mood, and when I’m not.  Thank you for being my constant in an ever changing world.  You are the absolute best husband, even if I don’t tell you that often enough, and I’d be completely lost without you!

All my love,
Your wife, xoxo

LOVE this post!! Love it! Good luck on your 5K (and on the job hunt - ugh! Seriously, unless you want to sell insurance or make minimum wage, there doesn't seem to be much out there.)
