Monthly Recap: August 2011

What to say about August?  After starting my Fall Race Training in July, I continued with training in August and had I’ve had the fastest runs and paces for me ever.  In my May Monthly Recap I said “I have never felt stronger as a runner than I do right now” and I’m still feeling this way :)

In the beginning of August we skipped town for a few days to go camping at the beach.  It was so relaxing.  We also celebrated the husband’s 31st birthday

I finished reading The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella, The New Rules of Lifting for Women:  Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess by Lou Schuler, Cassandra Forsythe and Alwyn Cosgrove and The Girl who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson.  Currently I’m reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson and Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall.

I started the NROLFW {New Rules of Lifting for Women} workouts and I’m really enjoying them so far.  I’m starting to see some muscle definition return to my arms!  I loved The Girl who Played with Fire and read it in 4 short days while we were camping.  I’m having a harder time getting into The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest but it is finally picking up.  Born to Run is a great book and it makes the time pass so quickly at the gym!  The Happiness Project is also a great book and I’m learning a lot from it.

I declared Fall Race Season upon us and listed out the races on my calendar for the remainder of the year.  I donated my wedding dress!  I remained committed to WW even though I took a full week off from tracking.  I yo-yo’d a bit between  138 and 141 but I’m back on track.  My left shin became bothersome during August but I’m working through it and confident that it will feel better soon.  I talked about household cleaning and started following the 30 Day Cleaning Schedule and implemented the One Minute Rule {from The Happiness Project}.  I replaced my current running shoes after over 300 miles!  I shared some of my favorite yoga poses, suffered a migraine, saw the second snake of the year while out running, got to spend the morning with my dad as he rode my bike while I ran 8 miles, I wrote a guest post over at I’d Rather Run Outside about what I’ve learned from being a runner and I hosted AJH on my blog for a guest post about 10 Reasons she loves to workout --- all part of the Great Big Bloggy Post Exchange hosted by P at The Adventures of an Average Athlete

August was a great month!  I can’t wait to see what September will bring :)
