Final Fun Blog Activity: One Confession

Fun Blog Activity #10 {Finally, the last one --- it only took me about six months to do 10 days worth of activities}

Day 10:  One Confession

Last Friday, the 28th, was my last day of work.  My position was eliminated due to a company merger and I was laid off.  My confession:  I have no idea what I want to do; what type of job I want to look for.  I have no desire to go back to work; I’d rather spend my days doing anything but working.  I think I feel this way because the last 6 months {or longer} at my job were BORING.  And the 12 months before that were stressful.  I was really good at what I did {organized, efficient, reliable} but it was boring.  There are 100’s of better ways I’d rather spend my days.

Until I find a new job I’m going to enjoy spending my days at home ~ exercising {during daylight hours}, organizing my home, working on craft projects, baking, walking Lucy, completing items on my 2011 Goals list.

I use to have this info listed on a page at the top of my blog but I've started a new workout streak for 2011 and I want to list the new info on that page but I don't want to lose this data either. The world always looks brighter from behind a smile

Fun Blog Activity #9:  Two smiley’s that describe your life right now {only one more activity to go}

The first smiley that describes my life right now is a happy face:  I’m a very happy girl

image
Source:  Free Smileys

A smile is the light in the window of your face that tells people you’re at home.

If you smile at someone, they might smile back.

Life is like a mirror, we get the best results when we smile at it.

Everyone smiles in the same language.

The shortest distance between two people is a smile.

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.  ~Mother Teresa

The second smiley that describes my life right now is a sad face:  {how contradictory of me} because I’m losing my job {a blessing in disguise, I’m sure} and I’m going to miss my co-workers very much

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.  ~Anatole France

Just because everything is different doesn’t mean anything has changed.  ~Irene Peter

In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life:  It goes on.  ~Robert Frost

Three Things Thursday

1.  I’ve been slowly building my running back up since the first of the year and I’m finally back up to 3 miles {which seems weird to say since less than two months ago I ran 26.2}.  I’ve been focusing on making exercise routine and making the time for it each day as well as incorporating lots & lots of walking, cross training, yoga & stretching.

2.  Speaking of yoga … I’m totally loving it.  Its amazing to see the improvement from week to week in my flexibility.  And I’ve got so much less hip pain when I run!

3.  I haven’t had any motivation to cook lately.  I don’t know if its because I’ve been so busy or the weather or what but we’ve eaten out more days this month than I want to count.  Combine that fact with the fact that I’m supposed to be counting my points because I’m supposed to be on Weight Watchers and you’ll realize that I get a big fat FAIL in the weight loss category this month AND the meal planning category too :(

BONUS:  here’s a cute photo from Lucy’s first trip to the snow a couple of weeks ago, we had sooo much fun sledding for my niece’s 8th birthday :)

5 People

Fun Blog Activity #6 {I will eventually get through all these activities}

Day Six:  Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)

I’m skipping this because there is no way I could list just 5.  Every person that is my life, now or previously, means a lot to me.  My heart is too big and I love my husband, family & friends too much to limit it to only listing five.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I posted this poem on The Blog back in July 2008 ~ it sums up how I feel about the above statement.
SOME PEOPLE
Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go ... Some stay for awhile and embrace our silent dreams.
They help us become aware of the delicate winds of hope ... and we discover within every human spirit there are wings yearning to fly.
They help our hearts to see that the only stairway to the stars is woven with dreams ... and we find ourselves unafraid to reach high.
They celebrate the true essence of who we are ... and have faith in all that we may become.
Some people awaken us to new and deeper realizations ... for we gain insight from the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Throughout our lives we are sent precious souls ... meant to share our journey however brief or lasting their stay they remind us why we are here.
To learn ... to teach ... to nurture ... to love.
Some people come into our lives to cast a steady light upon our path and guide our every step their shining belief in us helps us to believe in ourselves.
Some people come into our lives to teach us about love ... the love that rests within ourselves.
Let us reach out to others and feel the bliss of giving for love is far richer in action that it ever is in words.
Some people come into our lives and they move our souls to sing and make our spirits dance.
They help us to see that everything on earth is part of the incredibility of life ... and that it is always there
for us to take of its joy.
Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.
Meal Plan Monday {Jan 17}
Last week we were able to find the Flatout Wraps at a Safeway grocery store since our regular grocery store {Bel-Air} doesn’t carry them.  I’m sure glad we were able to find them because they are super good for quick & easy pizzas which are low in Weight Watchers points.  We had a lot of fun at the annual Crab & Shrimp Feed we went to on Saturday night and also enjoyed a made-at-home sushi dinner on Sunday with Jon’s sister & her husband for Family Dinner Night.  This week I’m super excited to make Tofu Tacos and I can’t wait to see how they turn out :)
Monday ~ Birthday Dinner for Jon’s mom
Tuesday ~ Tofu Tacos {new}
Wednesday ~ Flatbread Pizzas
Thursday ~ Stir-fry tofu over rice
Friday ~ TBD
Saturday ~ Belated Birthday Dinner for my mom
Sunday ~ Turkey Burgers
Monday, January 10, 2011
Meal Plan Monday {Jan 10}
Last week definitely didn’t go as planned so at least one recipe got rolled into this week.
Here’s to another week … another meal plan … another fresh start.  We’ve yet to have an entire weekend “on point” for Weight Watcher’s {even though we do really good during the week & rack up the activity points with lots of exercise} and it doesn’t look like this weekend will be any different.  Eventually we’ll get into a good groove and back on track fully.
Monday ~ Santa Fe Casserole with salad
Tuesday ~ Black Bean & Brown Rice Burritos
Wednesday ~ leftover casserole with salad
Thursday ~ Pizza on Flat Out Wraps {or pita pockets if we can’t find the wraps – our regular grocery store didn’t have them}
Friday ~ Turkey Burgers
Saturday ~ Crab & Shrimp Feed for Project R.I.D.E.
Sunday ~ Family Dinner Night
I placed 2nd in my old age group {25-29} twice {at the Vinecrusher 5 Miler & at the Elk Grove Fun Run #3}.
I started 2010 with a goal of 1000+++ miles for the year.  I made it more than half way there!
I had shin splints {a lot}, IT band issues {some of the time}, I pulled a muscle in my back {doing Insanity DVD’s during the summer}, I joined a half marathon training group through my local running store {The Running Zone}, I set a 5k PR in March, I became a marathoner, and I consistently ran all year long {even if some months were lower than desired}.
For 2011 I want to remain injury free.  I’d like to get a new 5k PR and a new 10k PR.  I’m thinking about running another half marathon, but not any time soon.  I want to cross train more, practice yoga, and maintain my fitness.  2010 was the year of racing … I want 2011 to be my year to become a stronger, healthier runner injury free.
2011 Goals
I think I’ve mentioned a time or two that I’m a list maker. I feel more organized and I find that I can better manage my time when I have a to do list. Of course sometimes procrastination does get the best of me {as in, I only completed 40 of the 88 goals I listed for last year --- some due to financial restrictions --- but most due to procrastination}. Some of those unfinished goals made it to this years list and some of those goals are no longer as important to me so I eliminated them. I’m proud of all I accomplished last year --- running 17 races {including two half marathons & one full marathon}, redecorating the living room, paying off some debt, learning to sew, running consistently all year, going green, etc --- and I know at the end of this year I will feel just as accomplished. I’ve already started incorporating some of these goals into my daily routine and I’m excited to see where this year takes me.
For My Health & Fitness
  1. Continue to set small goals to reach goal weight, 5lbs at a time {I rejoined & recommitted to Weight Watchers on 05.16.11}
  2. Walk and/or run at least 1 mile for as many consecutive days as possible {I bet my dad $20 that I could walk/run more days in a row then he could starting 1/1/11} {Update 2/28/11: my dad took a “rest” day on Feb 1st, so I won the bet.  Then on Feb 19th, after a 7+ mile run, I was forced to take some time off due to injury.}
  3. Incorporate cross training, strength training, and yoga into my workouts  {I joined a gym on 04.01.11}
  4. Run at least 6 races AND participate in all 4 Elk Grove Fun Run’s {01.30.11, 05.21.11, 09.03.11, 11.20.11} to receive another All-Series Participant Award  {I participated in 13 total races in 2011 --- see all complete races HERE & I received the All-Series Participant Award for 2011 on 11.20.11}
  5. Continue to keep an activity journal for 2011  {I used Daily Mile all year to track my workouts and I also use an Excel Spreadsheet to track my miles}
  6. Reach 1000+++ miles for 2011 {walk or run} Reached 1,000 on Friday 12.09.11
  7. Set a new 5k PR
Meal Plan Monday {Jan 3}
Happy New Year!
Sometimes its hard to believe that I’ve been meal planning for so long already.  I really do think I would be lost without it.  I crave structure in my life and meal planning is one easy way to obtain it.
This weeks menu is super boring because we have a lot of leftovers to eat up but that’s okay since it will give me more time to get back on track with working out and running!
Monday ~ leftovers
Tuesday ~ leftovers
Wednesday ~ Santa Fe Casserole
Thursday ~ leftovers
Friday ~ Spaghetti with semi-homemade marinara sauce
Saturday ~ TBD {birthday celebrations for my niece}
Sunday ~ leftover spaghetti
