Monthly Recap: December 2011

During December I continued to deal with The Right Leg Rebellion Against Running and ended up with a DNS for CIM {though I still went out and cheered on the husband, my friends, and fellow blogger Maureen from Buttoning my Jeans.  I remained {mostly} diligent about my physical therapy exercises {until the last week of the month!} but I really slacked off on any other type of activity for the most part. 

Early in the month I also crossed a BIG milestone --- the 1,000 mile mark for the year!  I’ve been chasing down this “goal” for two years with the Run 1000+++ with Tall Mom Club and I was so happy to finally reach it.  {My mileage includes walking, running, and run/walks.}

Just before Christmas I received The Green Light to return to running from my Kaiser Sports Doc!  I completed my first run/walk post-injury right after the Christmas weekend and it was a success.  Its going to be a long road to get back where I was but I’m determined to enjoy every single step along the way!  I ended the year with a run with our local running group … and started the new year with a run by the river with the husband & puppy :)

I finished reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee {paperback} and I also read The Hunger Games & Catching Fire both by Suzanne Collins {both on my Kindle Fire that I got for Christmas}.  I continued to read ChiRunning:  A Revolutionary Approach to Effortless, Injury-Free Running by Danny Dreyer and Katherine Dreyer {though not much since its my “gym” book and I didn’t really go to the gym much} and I started Run!:  26.2 Stories of Blisters & Bliss by Dean Karnzes {hardback}.  {Other books I’ve read in 2011 & 2012 can be found HERE --- I’m always looking for book suggestions!}
