Thankful – Wk1

Its all the little every day things that make life so extraordinary and this year I want to make sure I am appreciating and focusing more on them.  In an effort to remember to slow down, let the little things go, and enjoy every moment of this life I am going to share what I’ve been thankful for each week.  {Thanks to Sam at Fitness Food & Faith for this wonderful idea … I’ve enjoyed reading her thankful posts ever since I discovered her blog!}

This week I’m thankful for …

    • fresh starts & new beginnings … to me, its what the New Year is all about!
    • ice packs that offer temporary-yet-instant migraine relief … I woke up with an awful migraine on Wednesday morning at 5:30am but thankfully the husband brought me the ice pack and I was able to fall back asleep for a few hours with it on my head to numb the pain
    • amazing friends and fun new opportunities … I’ve made some amazing friends through my local running group whom I’m looking forward to running many races with this year and also this week I was offered another mentoring opportunity with the group for the spring training session {I was offered this last summer/fall also but I was training with another group of friends and wasn’t able to attend many of the local training group sessions --- this spring I hope to be at most of them and help mentor this new group to their spring races --- I’m very excited for this opportunity!}
    • space heaters … we have not been using our central heating system this week because we are trying to lower our natural gas bill to receive a discount {if we use a certain amount of therms or less between a set period of time then we get a 20% discount} so I’ve been utilizing space heaters all week!
    • this way-warmer-than-should-be-and-sunny-every-day-so-far California January {we had a record high of 66 on Wednesday in the Sacramento Valley}
    • homemade meals all week … its been a very welcomed change to get back to eating at home and cooking --- not only do I feel better but I know the quality of food I’ve been eating this week is much better than most of what I ate in December {I’ll have to make sure I remember this next time I want to have a month-long binge eating fest}

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has a wonderful first-full-weekend of the New Year!  Rock your workouts, long runs or races!
