11 Things

I was tagged by  Kerrie at Mom vs Marathon, by AJH at Age Groups Rock, and by MCM Mama for the 11 things post!

Sit back and relax … this is a long one.  I wouldn’t blame you for skipping it.  Except then you might miss out on the randomness!  Enjoy :)

1. Post these rules.
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them.
6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

I’m breaking the rules.  See below.

11 Random Things about The Jesse:

I’ve done a few of these random posts before so I’m sorry if some of these random things about me are repeats!

  1. I painted my fingernails a light shimmery-sparkly blue for the Super Bowl.  I’m a Giants fan.
  2. I really enjoy a good “stupid” joke --- example:  If April showers bring May flowers, what do Mayflowers bring?  The pilgrims!
  3. I have a hard time napping unless I’m completely exhausted {so tired this week that I napped, mid-day, twice!}.
  4. All of my animals names have started with an “L” since I was 10 years old {cat – Lacey, dog – Lily, cat – Lucky, cat – Layla, dog – Lucy}.
  5. I’m really stubborn.
  6. Dinner is my favorite meal of the day.
  7. I’m obsessed with post-it notes.
  8. My least favorite household chore is putting away the clean dishes.  And dusting.
  9. I use to color my hair all the time.  It’s been every color you can imagine.  But, I haven’t colored it since the summer of 2005.
  10. I am not career driven.  I just want a job that will pay the bills.  I want to work to live; and never live to work.  This is ironic because most positions I’ve had I have found myself taking on additional tasks and responsibilities.  I think that is because I don’t like to be bored.  However, I think if I found a job that I LOVED and that I was passionate about then this statement would be different.
  11. I’ve been unemployed for 371 days.

11 Questions from Kerrie:

1. Why do you blog?  To “journal” the every day events in my life :)
2. What is your favorite childhood board game?  I really like card games --- rummy, Uno, Phase 10, Skipbo.
3. Coffee with or without cream?  Black, no sugar.
4. Tell us about your favorite vacation ever.  My Maui honeymoon.  It was so beautiful there and we had such a great time.  We were busy, busy, busy the whole time we were there but we enjoyed every single minute.  Runner up – Yosemite last spring.
5. What is your favorite movie quote?  “I don’t know how to put this, but I’m kind of a big deal.  People know me.  I’m very important.  I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.” –Ron Burgundy, Anchorman
6. Best bling from a race:  My CIM medal from my first marathon, December 2010.
7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?  New York City.
8. Why would you live there?  I dreamed of living there after college but life has a funny way of changing your dreams without you even noticing it.
9. The one song that gets you super pumped to run is:  I’d have to say either “I Like To Move It” by Will.i.Am from Madagascar 2 or “Let’s Get It Started” by The Black Eyed Peas.
10. What did you have for dinner last night?  Brown rice with kidney beans, salsa, and two toasted tortillas with a side salad.
11. Why did you start running?  To lose weight and live a healthier life.  But somewhere along the way I feel in love with the sport and being apart of the running community, both IRL and virtually.

11 10 Questions from AJH:

1. What TV series do you recommend?  The Big Bang Theory!  So funny :)
2. What is a book you couldn't put down?  The Twilight Series & The Hunger Games Series.  I have never read any books as fast as I read those two series.  And I could re-read them several times and never get bored of them!
3. Serious movies or chick flicks?  Both.  I really enjoy watching all types of movies which is why the husband & I are attempting to watch the AFI Top 100 Movies {list HERE} – we are on #19.  Though, I’m a real sucker for chick flicks and if I’m solo then I’ll search a romance to watch.
4. What is a race you would recommend hands down?  California International Marathon
5. What grade did your favorite teacher ever teach?  High school = sophomore year history.
6. If you could live anywhere where would you live?  See question #7 & #8 above.
7.  What was one of the best days of your life aside from marriage and childbirth?  The day of my college graduation.  I didn’t finish traditional high school {I finished through home schooling} and didn’t walk with my high school class so my college graduation was a big deal for me.
8. What food could you never give up?  Pizza.
9. What is a place you would NEVER want to live?  Anywhere there are tornados, hurricanes, or blizzards.
10. What famous person do you admire?  Michelle Obama because of her initiatives to promote healthy eating.

11 Questions from MCM Mama:

1. Do you sleep with a lovey? If so, what?  Nope.
2. Where’s your favorite place to go on vacation?  Anywhere near the ocean.

Have you been to New York City much? I love visiting it and I always said I wished I had lived there when I was younger.

Sorry about the unemployment. That stinks!

I also love post it notes but I don't think it wanders into obsession. Although I do have a large tub of them at school and I do mean large.

I do tend to reward myself after an event often with shopping where I am. I did not do too badly yesterday. I kept it in and resisted a lot!

You are missing put on Brussels sprouts - they are just so yummy roasted! (but they do make your house stink)
My perfect Saturday would be a long run followed by a good breakfast and then a nice long bike ride with friends. And then a NAP!
