Three Things Thursday

1.  Race Goals

This weekend we are headed down to Big Sur/Carmel for the Big Sur Marathon.  The husband is running the full 26.2 and I’m running the 10.6 mile event.  We are both pretty excited.  Though, I have to be honest, I’d much rather be running the full 26.2 with him --- someday folks because Big Sur is definitely on my Race Bucket List (which I’m putting together for a blog post soon).

Anyways, my race goals = have fun, take photos, enjoy every single step.  It’s going to be a great weekend getaway.  We are staying in a little cottage in Carmel for three nights, I’m running the race with my running buddy Kat, lots of our running friends will be there running the event(s), Dean Karnazes and Bart Yasso are scheduled to be at the expo (I’m brining my Dean books in the hopes of getting an autograph – and a photo with him), and the weather is looking fabulous.  The husbands goals are the same for his race.  He has been training hard for this race and he’ll be running with two running buddies that he’s been training with all spring. 

2.  Plank’ing, Running, Upcoming Training

Boo.  I broke my plank-a-day streak.  I made it to 110 days and then forgot last Friday.  Not only did I forget last Friday but I havne’t done once since I broke my streak.  Fail.  I’ll be starting up again on May 1st. 

My running has been sporadic lately and I haven’t really been feeling it.  I’m in a little funk that I’m hoping a scenic destination race this weekend will help me get out of it.  I got home from work last night, got changed and ready to go run, opened the front door and it was raining.  I closed the door and said forget it.  I figure it’s one of the last rains of the season so I’d much rather not run in it.  How’s that for some motivation?  Ugh.

Hopefully I find my running mojo soon since SFM training starts … next week.  I’m putting the final touches on my training calendar and I will post it once I’ve got it finished.  I’m really excited for SFM in July!

3.  Writers Block

One final topic for today … I just don’t feel like I’ve had much to share lately.  The transition from stay-at-home-wife (?!?) to working girl was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be (which really isn’t all that surprising since I was unemployed for more than a year).  I am really enjoying my new job and I just recently finished the second phase of my training so I’ve taken on more work and I’m really starting to learn the in & outs of the position.  It’s not just blogging that has taken a back seat during this transition … I haven’t read more than 20 pages in any book I’m reading, I’ve only been to the gym a handful of times, I haven’t ran as much as I’d like, my house is full of clutter, and several projects sit waiting for me to work on them.  It’s pretty much sleep, eat, work, occasionally run, and repeat over here lately.  Not very exciting.  Hopefully I’ll find my “writing/sharing” mojo wherever my running mojo is.  Until then …

Wow, a 110 day plank streak is something to be excited about!

110 is still badass, and about 107 days more than I have done plank :D
